Activate your Sixth Sense

Friends, just as no two individuals on this earth share identical physical appearances or builds, neither do they possess identical physical and mental characteristics.

Science asserts that an individual’s unique traits are shaped by genetics, environment, and upbringing. Spirituality, on the other hand, claims that these traits are the outcome of past life karmas and impressions (sanskaras).

When we merge these two perspectives, a profound truth emerges: human uniqueness is innate, a gift we are born with. Yet, most of us either remain unaware of these gifts or fail to utilize them effectively. While minor talents are common in everyone, we speak here of extraordinary qualities that elevate certain individuals far above the ordinary.

Our body is equipped with five senses—eyes, nose, tongue, ears, and skin—through which we see, smell, taste, speak, hear, and feel. These are referred to in spiritual parlance as vision, scent, sound, taste, and touch. These senses enable us to navigate life. One can only imagine how challenging life would be without the primary three senses: vision (sight), hearing (sound), and speech (taste and expression). The other two senses, though less emphasized, are equally vital.

In some individuals, one or more of these senses is remarkably heightened. For instance, some people possess such acute vision that a single glance etches an image permanently in their memory, enabling them to recall it in vivid detail even decades later. Similarly, some possess extraordinary hearing, capable of discerning sounds from great distances or isolating a specific sound in a noisy crowd. Others have an exceptional sense of smell, touch, taste, or speech.

When an individual exhibits a heightened capability in any one sense, it signifies the innate awakening of their sixth sense—what we often call “intuition” or “extra-sensory perception” (ESP). This sixth sense, lying dormant in most, is active in such individuals from birth, setting them apart from the ordinary. Without realizing it, these individuals unknowingly use their heightened sense and sixth sense in daily life, deriving immense satisfaction. However, this very gift often becomes their undoing. They may find themselves alienated, misunderstood by society, and unable to comprehend why they are treated differently.

Consider the example of a canal branching from a river. If this canal runs far from fields or cities, its presence has little impact—the fields remain parched, and the city’s thirst unquenched. But if the canal’s flow is redirected close to the fields or urban areas, it quenches the land’s thirst and provides water for the people. Similarly, when we align our heightened sense with the sixth sense, it becomes a wellspring of success and fulfillment in life.

Through dedicated focus and meditative practice, you can learn to redirect the outflow of your heightened sensory energy, preventing it from dissipating aimlessly. Once this happens, your sixth sense awakens, and with it, the depth of your meditation expands, unveiling profound inner realizations.
